Modkit's Going Public!

After almost a year in private Alpha, Modkit is finally coming out with its first public Beta release just days away.  The year 2010 was a busy one for Modkit and we're happy to be able to share the fruits of our labor with the world.  The upcoming release is the result of feedback from our Alpha testers and the expansion of our vision following our successful Kickstarter campaign.  We owe our Alpha testers and Kickstarter backers our deepest gratitude, as they patiently waited for features and rewards while we essentially put the Alpha version down to re-design the system from the ground up.

We have many things to report in the next few days.  First, let us introduce you to the new site design.  The site will be coming online in bits over the next week, but you can get a glimpse of the new design on our homepage.  There you'll see a giant "M", which will prove very significant once people get their hands on the upcoming release. We're going to get back to work on the public Beta release, but stay tuned...   There is more to come real soon!

  1. FINALY!!!
I'm so excited, I just can't hide it.

I've been looking and asking for a program like this for about 5 years.

Please release BETA SUPER sooon, I'm going NUTS!!

  2. Ed,
    Thanks buddy.
    My email is
I hope to hear from you soon.

  3. FYI Make has a big write up and it seems to have assumed you would have launched by press time. They have links to pages like which are just blank.

  4. Thanks,

We originally got the Newsstand date which is much behind the subscriber date. Hopefully the readers don't hold it against us.

I'll check the link you mentioned but I thought it was which has a message. But it makes sense that people would got to the higher level URLs.

  5. I have not received my physical copy of Make but do have the early e-version. When I click the examples link I get page not found errors.

There are two links on the page the one at the end of the article. One works and is the one Ed mentioned above the one that does not is at the end of the article.

Also disapointed that the beta is not active. My son has recently caught the Scratch spark and this would be a great transition.

Will users be able to post code like on the scratch site?

  6. Got my Arduino Uno today! Built my crimpcard tonight...and programmed it...just like Scratch. I am psyched! Can't wait to show the 5th graders signed up for Afterschool program. TOO COOL!

  7. So, can we program an lilypad with modkit yet or not i am confused.

  8. I am very interested in this post, everyone should know it more, wish you success. The author of this post is admirable, it brings a lot of emotion to everyone reading it, let's share it more widely.
